Leon Stubbs is a real all-rounder after excelling in athletics and football.

Just weeks after guiding Fulledge Colts Football Club Under 14s to another league and cup double, he was crowned a double county 300m champion.

The 14-year-old competed in the Lancashire track and field Championships at Stanley Park, Blackpool at the end of last month where he won gold for Burnley Athletics Club.

Leon finished first in his heat with a time of 39.70secs to reach the final.

And it got even better there were he ran a new personal best time of 39.50 which was also a new Burnley AC record.

The Unity College pupil followed that success up at the Lancashire School Championships at the weekend when, representing Burnley, he stormed to victory in a championship record time.

What makes his success all the more remarkable is that he has only just started to compete over the 300m and 400m distance.

They were the first titles for the talented teenager who has been a member of Burnley AC for the last two years.

Leon swapped his football boots for running spikes once the Fulledge Colts captain had guided his team to the double in the Accrington and District Junior Football League where they won every single game.

It was the Colts second successive league and cup double and the team’s fourth title success in five years.
