St Leonard’s and St Bartholomew’s to represent Ribble Valley and Hyndburn in Lancashire School Games.

Pupils from St Leonard’s and St Bartholomew’s primary schools are through to the SPAR Lancashire School Games county final after taking victory in quad kids’ athletics.

The pupils at St Leonard’s and St Bartholomew’s sealed their place in the county finals after beating 19 other schools from the Ribble Valley and Hyndburn districts and will now face other winners from across Lancashire.

A record number of over 240 children from 20 schools took part in the quad kids’ tournament showing the increased interest in athletics since the 2012 Olympics.

Quad kids is a combined athletics event where each athlete completes a jump, throw, 50m run and 400m run.

Jane Johnson, School Games Organiser for Ribble Valley and Hyndburn, said: “The standard of competition was extremely high and all competitors should be extremely proud of their achievements.

“I would like to thank Hyndburn Athletics Club which played a large part in organising and running the event and making it such a huge success.”
