THEY know how to churn out British champions in the Battrick household after Keely followed big brother Daniel to a national kick boxing crown.

But it helps when dad Billy is a kick boxing coach!

Keely, 12, won the World Kickboxing Association girls full contact British title with a knockout performance – and celebrated by going straight back in to the gym!

The Mount Carmel High School pupil, who has been training since she was five-years-old, was up against Molly Moss from Force One Gym in Birmingham.

And it what proved to be a thrilling final at the Poplar Club, Accrington, both girls went toe-to-toe in a best of British battle.

But it was Keely who was producing the more eye-catching kick boxing and in a pulsating final round, her spinning kicks to the body and head proved to be too much for Moss and the Accrington youngster was proclaimed the champion.

But Keely showed no interest in lapping up the glory for the very same evening she was back in the FitToFight Gym, which is run by her dad Billy, preparing for her next fight.

“It was a brilliant contest and Keely and Molly both thrilled a sell-out crowd,” said Billy. “It is something she has wanted and something she has worked hard to achieve.

“She is in the gym five times a week and even after she won her title, she was back in there the very same night, hitting the bags and asking when her next fight was!”

Keely now joins brother Daniel as a national champion – the 15-year-old winning four English and two British titles.

Daniel, also a pupil at Mount Carmel High School, was ringside to witness his younger sister’s achievement.

“It was a wonderful night for all of us,” added Billy who thanked sponsors AMT Lawyers and Glenn Slater Building Contractors for the continued support.

“It was one of the loudest cheers I have ever heard from a crowd when Keely won.

“But for Daniel to be there applauding his sister, cheering on a fellow champion and knowing what it feels like was very special.”

The victory took Keely’s impressive record to 32 win and just two loses.
