At the half way stage of the Blackburn and Darwen Individual Snooker League it’s Alf Bellusci who sits proudly at the top of the table.

After winning all five matches to date Alf has dropped only five frames and also holds the highest break of 82.

Mark Slattery is also unbeaten in second spot, breaks of 78, 63 and 45 giving him a 3-0 victory over CIU champ Ricky Hardman in their clash last week. Mark is just one frame behind Alf and one frame ahead of third placed Andy “The Boss” Lancaster who overcame a severe bout of flu as well as opponent Jonathon Wignall 3-2 to cling to his unbeaten record.

Other highlights from last week included a tight affair between George Holden and Tommy Hannan – Tommy eventually nicking it 3-2 to move into fourth spot, just a point behind the top three.

Jonny Hannan continued his fine run with a 3-0 win over Joe Hanlon to go fifth and Lee Whittle got back to winning ways with a 3-1 defeat of Ed Holgate.

Players will play 10 games each in their quest to make the top eight and the knockout phase of the competition.

With £300 going to the winner there’s plenty more snooker to come.

Matches take place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Longshaw Sports and Social Club (7-30pm start).
