WHEN it comes to producing a winning team, then you can’t dodge St Mary’s Oswaldtwistle!

The super Saints ‘B’ team came out on top in a Year Three/Four Dodgeball competition which was held at Mount Carmel High School.

A total of seven primary schools from across Hyndburn took part in the competition where teams were split in to two groups.

Group A included Huncoat, St Anne’s ‘B’, Benjamin Hargreaves and St Marys Oswaldtwistle ‘B’ In Group B St Anne’s ‘A’, Peel Park and St Marys Oswaldtwistle ‘A’ battled it out for a place in the knockout stages.

Teams played under the officiating of the Mount Carmel leaders who did a fantastic job.

St Marys ‘B’ won through to the final where they were up against Benjamin Hargreaves with the Oswaldtwistle team coming out on top and winning the tournament. Peel Park finished in third place.

Gareth Martindale, assistant school games organiser of the Hyndburn & Ribble Valley School Sports Partnership said he event was a big success “The level of ability on show was of a high standard and all the children and teachers can be very proud of,” he said. “It was fantastic to see so many schools wanting to take part in dodgeball which is a up-and-coming sport.

“Not only did we have the seven schools competing, we also had nine schools competing at Oakhill in a competition, which they won taking full advantage of the fact that they play at their school.”
