King Torus has dropped down the ratings in recent times but after scoring at Newcastle last month, he can continue his renaissance in the Wilmot-Smith Memorial Handicap at Ripon.

The six-year-old was twice a Group Two winner as a juvenile but after a reasonable three-year-old campaign, he seemed to totally lose his way at four and was subsequently snapped up by Jamie Osborne at auction at the end of 2012 and repaid that investment with a couple of wins last term.

However, King Torus subsequently changed hands again over the winter and now runs under the Sprint Thoroughbred Racing banner and is in the care of the very capable Ruth Carr in North Yorkshire.

Carr can often revitalise a jaded runner and that certainly seemed to be the case when King Torus pitched up at Newcastle two weeks ago where he cruised through the field and scored by a handy head, with the first three pulling well clear of the rest.

He triumphed off a mark of 84 that day but the narrow margin of victory has meant the handicapper could inflict only a 2lb rise and even off that elevated perch, he is still some way short of the 110 he won off in his pomp.

Admittedly King Torus is a long way off that level now, but he is certainly no back number and merits support.

St Moritz is another who has had more than one home in recent times but is in the right place at David O'Meara's yard, which is currently going great guns.

O'Meara is also does well with seemingly spent horses and in St Moritz he has one who has seen plenty of racing, with a total of 40 starts to date.

Winner of the Bunbury Cup for Mark Johnston and two Listed events for David Nicholls in his younger days, St Moritz failed to really make his mark last term but dropped to a mark of 72 at Redcar last week, he finally got his head back in front.

St Moritz did it in style, too, breezing home by eight lengths with the handicapper surely due to impose a steep rise in the coming days.

O'Meara is obviously keen to capitalise before that happens so contesting the RiponBet Our Profits Stay In Racing Handicap under a 6lb penalty appears a sound solution.

Mind Of Madness is held in the highest regard by his connections and will surely land Yarmouth's EBF Stallions / 4 Head Novice Stakes at short odds.

The Azamour colt is viewed as a Royal Ascot contender and looked the part when winning by four and a half lengths on his bow at Newmarket in April.

He beat previous and subsequent winners, so the form has a solid look, and trainer David Brown has been swift to identify an Ascot prep-run opportunity having been forced to skip Sandown last week due to the rain-softened ground.

Genius Boy hails from a fine family and he can get back on track in the Diomed Development Handicap.

A winner at Wolverhampton in March, he has failed to capitalise on that in three subsequent runs but should not be written off just yet.

Interception won three times at the backend of last year and she can finally recapture that kind of form in the Janes' Solicitors Fillies' Handicap at Brighton.

She did not really enjoy the run of the race in the fillies' and mares' all-weather championship final back in April while she then suffered a bit of a troubled run when third at Lingfield last time.

Interception has some ability and granted a bit of luck, it would be no surprise if she could get her head in front again here.

Handmaid is the choice in the totequadpot Four Places In Four Races "National Hunt" Maiden Hurdle at Southwell.
