HAYDOCK’S two-day Temple Stakes meeting unearthed a Royal Ascot animal last year with Paul Cole’s Bunker landing the six furlong maiden on the card before tasting success in the Chesham Stakes and Royal Lodge Stakes thereafter.

Godolphin’s Winslow (2.30) has all the credentials to be an Ascot horse with the $600,000 colt making a promising debut there on his first visit to a racecourse in a warm maiden last month.

He stayed on impressively to snatch third in the closing stages and now stepped up to six furlongs should be able to get his head in front for Silvestre Da Sousa and Charlie Appleby.

A horse with similarly warm maiden form is Richard Hannon’s Tea in Transvaal (4.15) who starts her season off in a competitive mile handicap. She was two lengths behind subsequent Guineas second Lightning Thunder at Newbury and three lengths behind Oaks favourite Taghrooda at Newmarket and should be competitive from an opening mark of 79.

There’s excellent racing from Goodwood this afternoon where the all-conquering team of Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes in particular thrive and the pair likely to have a winner in the opener with their filly Parsley (2.20).

She shaped like a future winner when second in a warm maiden at Nottingham a fortnight ago, narrowly outpointed by Clive Cox’s warm favourite, the pair pulling clear.

The Zebedee filly is entitled to progress further and is taken to go one better than that outing and shed the maiden tag at the second attempt.

The pair have excellent chances elsewhere eon the card including Red Refraction and Barley Mow however Cameo Tiara (5.10) is taken to land the stable a double in the mile handicap.

She showed promise in maidens last season at Kempton and Newbury and duly obliged at the third time of asking when put up in the column last month on the all-weather.

She looks the type to progress further now handicapping from a lowly mark of 80.

As mentioned, the pair team up with Barley Mow in the Cocked Hat Stakes however he looks vulnerable under a 3lb penalty for a fortunate win last time out in the Newmarket Stakes, Richard Hughes keeping the race despite being brought in front of the stewards.
