EAST Lancashire tasted a narrow defeat at the hands of Preston A in their latest National League Championship Division Five double header – despite the locals stepping up to the plate in their home tie.

With 24 bowlers representing East Lancashire home and away at two venues, things went well at Feniscowles as Garry Fielding’s men claimed a 209-188 victory.

But over at Fulwood Con there was a 234-201 loss for the locals giving Preston a narrow 422-410 aggregate victory.

Lee Hammond (Darwen Subs), Dominic Grieve (Dugdale), Mick Lee (Butlers), Neil Spencer (East Lancs), Gerald Oakland (Whitehall), Dave Shawforth (Butlers) and John Bentley (Whitehall) were winners at Feniscowles, while the four victors for East Lancashire at Fulwood were Ian Armstrong (Railway), Adam Hilliard (Whitehall), Alan Lord (Green Park) and John Spender (East Lancs)
