The title races in the Blackburn with Darwen Snooker League are over, Greenfield taking the Premier Office Supplies Division One and Longshaw B the Blackburn Mill Hill Engineering Division Two.

In the end both teams won comfortably with a couple of games to spare. Greenfield did in in style up at the Park, a series of good breaks giving them the match 6-2.

Chris Lawson got revenge against the only player to beat him in the league this season when he knocked in a 78 break in the opener against Ash Taylor.

Lawson (below) will be kicking himself for not setting a new high break, he overhit his shot from yellow to green and snookered himself on the green when it looked certain he would clear with 103.

Comfortable wins for George Holden and Alan Heaton put Greenfield further ahead but the best was yet to come.

The final doubles saw Steve Atkinson break off for the Park and Holden stepped up and cleared the lot to black win a fantastic run of 84.

Pete Arkwright knocked in 46 only to lose and Gaz Hampson rounded off the win with a colours clearance to shake off his stubborn opponent Mick Almond.

It was harder work for Longshaw B as they faced their own A team.

The A team took an early 2-1 lead before Jonny Hannan levelled things with another solid victory.

Frank Jex nicked the next to put the B team in front for the first time and when Lee Whittle won his singles and doubles frames with partner Chris Rolfe it was job done. Another nice break of 45 from Lee was the icing on the cake.

The win seals the championship and promotion but who will join them is still not certain. VIP A went down to a surprise 5-3 defeat at Rishton Golf Club which put an end to any lingering title aspirations.

They are now three points ahead of Longshaw A in the race for second and look to have the easier task in next week’s finale against bottom placed Hole I’th Wall.

Longshaw A meanwhile entertain the inconsistent Feniscowles.

Relegated Mill Hill showed what could have been as they earned a draw away to Hoddlesden.

The visitors took a 4-1 lead before Hoddlesden rallied to take the last three.

The result leaves Hoddlesden in second, three points ahead of Punch and Park A. Punch have come from nowhere to join the battle for runners up and a hard fought win over Fox and Hounds put them ahead of Park A on games won.

Punch raced into a 3-0 lead before good wins for improving Fox youngsters Jake O’Horo and Mick Webster put them back in touch.

When Scott Morris beat singles champion Jamie Ridsdale to make it 4-3 to Punch it was down to Ian Harle and Ged Patton to decide things.

Harle on his own table is a tough proposition for anyone and he ran out a comfortable 62-27 winner.

Park A also had a battle at Cherry Tree but even a winning return for Ian Dickinson couldn’t get them over the line, the match ending 4-4. With Hoddlesden having that 3 point lead in second spot Park A have a mountain to climb next week against the Punch who are level with them on 84 points.

The relegation battle between Blackburn Golf A and West View was an understandably tense affair. Lee Tatters got the golfers off to a flying start with a convincing win over Mick Jackson and when Barry Pease put them 2-0 up in the next it was looking good. West View hit back hard taking the next two before Gordon Stobbart restored the lead, beating Dave Stephens.

The golfers also took the next two to ease their worries, going five points ahead of West View with just one game left.

In Division Two Feniscowles and Anchor battled to an entertaining draw, matching each other frame for frame from beginning to end.

Orchard showed how far they have progressed this season with a solid 5-3 victory over VIP B.

Borough picked up five points from Blackburn Golf B in the final fixture when their opponents were a no show for the second week running. Doubts now hang over whether they will be allowed to participate next season.
