The Mill Lodge Hyndburn Bowling League Doubles Competition took place at Globe BC on Saturday – and despite the dreadful weather the competitors turned on the style.

Gary Stevenson and Steve Townley took on Michael Opie and Steve Anderton in the first semi final which saw Opie and Anderton coming out on top in a tight game 21-19.

In the second semi Martin Ryan and Dave Bond defeated Stuart Gall and Michael Beardmore.

In the final Opie and Anderton took the early exchanges and led 8-1 before Ryan and Bond fought back and tied the scores at 11-11.

But Opie and Anderton got the upper hand and took the trophy 21-12.

The home venue is Feniscowles and Pleasington Sports and recreation Club with the away venue Fulwood Conservative Club.

The start time at both venues is 2pm with a dozen local bowlers in each team.

n Entries are now being taken for the Great Harwood and District Bowling League’s Arthur Ormerod Rose Bowl Doubles.

The competition will take place on Saturday, May 24, at Parker Street Bowling Club, Rishton.

Pairs are not restricted to members of same team, as long as each player is registered with a team in Great Harwood and District League.
