Blessed Trinity 2 Unity 1
Keighley Cup Final

TURF Moor heroes Marley Byrne and Jaydon Kenyon produced a late, late show to seal another Keighley Cup success for trophy kings Blessed Trinity.

The Blessed Trinity pair left it late after opponents Unity had forged ahead before half-time and held on to their lead until late in the game.

Blessed Trinity teacher Neil Stubbs, who coaches the U15 outfit, said: “It was a fantastic final, and Unity proved to be difficult opponents.

“Although we went behind, the lads kept going and it is incredibly special for them to win the final at Turf Moor because the Keighley Cup has so much history in the town.

“Traditionally, we’ve done very well in the competition over the years and it was lovely to see Blessed Trinity lift the trophy again.”

Stubbs added: “A lot of the boys are Burnley fans, and we’ve one lad, Billy Grogan who is on the books at Turf Moor and several of them are in the town team too.”

Blessed Trinity cruised into the final with a 3-0 win over Sir John Thursby while Unity won a penalty shoot-out against Shuttleworth after a goalless semi-final.

“It was the icing on the cake because we also reached the last 32 of the English Schools Competition, another great achievement by the lads.”
