THE fifth annual cancer charity golf day at Stonyhurst Park Golf Club has been declared “the best yet” by organisers.

Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer, an enthusiastic group of fundraisers, have been staging a programme of special golf days for more than 12 years, each collecting funds for the Preston-based Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

In 2010, the group moved into East Lancashire with a curtain-raising event invitation event staged at the picturesque course alongside Stonyhurst College.

Organiser and vice-chairman of RGAC, Mike Kemplay, said: “Traditionally Stonyhurst is now the first of our annual golf days. It’s on a smaller scale than the others but it just gets better every year.

“The winning team, the Quintonians’ were from Bolton and were one of three new teams to RGAC events. The Bayley Arms at Hurst Green did us proud with the catering and reception once more and £800 raised for the charity was the most successful ‘Stonyhurst’ to date.”

The Next Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer event will be the 12th Annual Celebrity-Amateur Golf Day and Dinner at Leyland Golf Club on Monday May 12.
