FULLEDGE Colts celebrated a stunning league and cup double – before making their mark on Europe.

Fulledge clinched the Accrington and District Junior League title by 16 points and added the league’s cup to their title success.

Competing in the Trofeo Mediteranoe tournament against teams from seven nations, Fulledge made it through to the quarter-finals on the Costa Brava before going out on penalties.

“The lads have enjoyed an incredible season, and to reach the last eight of an international competition with 240 teams taking part is a phenomenal effort,” said coach Ricci Geoghegan.

“They’ve produced some wonderful football this term, and the German teams we played against all complimented us on our style of play.

“We drew the first game, won our next three matches without conceding a goal, before losing on penalties in the quarter-finals.

“Burnley based club lifted the Accrington and District Cup with a 4-3 win over Wilpshire Wanderers (Red) “The experience of playing in the tournament in Spain gave our players a new opportunity to play against teams with different styles and it was a great learning experience,” added Geoghegan.

“The boys were also playing on fantastic pitches, something we don’t always experience at home because of the weather.

“Many of the players said it was the best experience of their lives, and hopefully the tournament will be an annual fixture for Fulledge now.”

Fulledge would like to thank their coaching staff of Geoghegan, Phil Ingham and Tim Rakshi as well their sponsors Phoenix, R Ingham Pallets, Lino PLC, and Premier Top Shop, Burnley.
