Darwen bowlers Bill Chynoweth, John Schofield and Eric Colling have won the Monday Triples League at Newton Hall Indoor Bowling Club, Staining, near Blackpool.
The 15 team league fixtures are in two halves and the trio have won both halves of the season – only losing two games out of 28. They were also quarter finalists in the club Triples, losing to Alan Foulds and Chris and Martin Gale. Alan and Chris play for the England Under 25s team.
Another trio including Bill, Eric and Roy Briggs were placed fourth and second respectively in the 15 team Friday Triples League.
Newton Hall is the only permanent bowling centre in Lancashire and is a 60 mile round trip, but the journey is worthwhile for the standard of bowling at the centre.
