Music Master appears to have been found the perfect opportunity by his astute trainer Henry Candy to kick his season off with a win at Warwick.

He signed off his last campaign with a career-best effort when it looked like he was going to win the Bengough Stakes at Ascot for a few strides only to be swamped inside the final furlong by Tropics.

While Tropics has disappointed in two runs to date this term, in the second half of last season he was a very upwardly mobile sprinter.

The handicapper felt Candy's sprinter ran well, though, as he was put up 5lb to a mark of 108, which probably rules handicaps out for him.

That means races like the Follow Us On Twitter At WarwickRaces Conditions Stakes will be the way forward before the big sprints in the summer.

And while he will have to take another step forward to be winning at the major meetings, after only seven career starts there is still plenty for Candy to work with.

Richard Hannon appears to have found a good opening for Potentate in the rewards4racing.com Maiden Stakes.

Runner-up in both his starts to date, the Acclamation colt was only beaten three-quarters of a length by the 95-rated Merletta, who had finished fourth in the Lowther behind Lucky Kristale.

The pair were four lengths clear of the rest that day and the step back up to seven furlongs may help.

Middleham Park Racing could have picked up another bargain in G Force, who runs in the Crabbie's Scottish Raspberry Maiden Stakes at Newcastle.

On his only outing to date he finished second in a soft-ground Newbury maiden for Richard Hannon in the colours of Qatar Racing.

His previous connections paid 70,000 guineas for him but his new owners parted with just 20,000 and that looks good business.

Sent to David O'Meara, it will be a huge surprise if he fails to pay back most of that.

The same syndicate paid a similar amount to Juddmonte Farms for the former Sir Michael Stoute-trained Omnipresent, who can make a winning debut for O'Meara in the In Memory of Barry Linley Handicap at Beverley.

A winner at Kempton for Stoute, he is clearly no superstar but is just the type of unexposed horse O'Meara excels with.

Geoff Harker's Bling King was beaten by the progressive Manchestar at Redcar on Monday and should go close in the Rapid Lad Handicap off the same mark.

The Hannon-trained Mandarin Girl was sent off 2/1 favourite for what is traditionally a decent maiden at Ripon but after showing early pace she weakened and only beat one home.

Now she goes to the other end of the country for the Stephanie Leighton 50th Birthday Maiden Stakes at Brighton.

It will be a big surprise if she fails to reproduce what she has obviously been showing on the gallops.

Victor Dartnall's Roudoudou Ville may surprise a few in the £25,000 mcbookie.com Festival Handicap Chase at Perth.

Off for two years before three lacklustre runs over timber, he showed a bit of his old spark when fourth to Fruity O'Rooney a fortnight ago.

Now 3lb lower, if the ground remains good he has each-way claims on the best of his old form.
