ENGLAND and Scotland shared the spoils in the Centenary Shield in front of 2,300 fans at Ewood Park.

It was a proud day for both teams, with former Scotland and Blackburn striker Kevin Gallacher and Accrington Stanley boss James Beattie introduced to the young international stars ahead of the game.

It was also a special afternoon for 36 children from Lammack Juniors, who led out the teams before kick off.

England were on top early on, though, and when Danny Bruce was fouled in the penalty area, England were awarded a penalty kick.

Andrew White made no mistake from the spot to fire England ahead.

England piled on the pressure further, but it was Scotland who clawed their way back into the game and began to dominate.

Then Scotland drew level, a deflected shot going past the England goalkeeper to give the Scots a share of the spoils.

England manager Andy Buckingham, a teacher at QEGS, said he was pleased with the team's performance.

“The boys played really and for them to remain unbeaten throughout the season is a great effort,” he said.

“The boys were a bit flat afterwards, but they were a credit to the country.”
