MILLWALL are set to cancel the loan spell of Blackburn Rovers striker DJ Campbell.

The 32-year-old has scored two goals in nine appearances for the Lions since signing on loan until the end of the season from Rovers in January.

Campbell was one of six men arrested by the National Crime Agency (NCA) in December as part of an in investigation into alleged spot-fixing in football.

He was not charged and released on bail until April 8.

Last Thursday (April 3) the NCA released a statement confirming it had re-arrested the six original suspects based upon new evidence along with a further seven footballers aged between 18 and 30 who play for clubs based in the north west of England.

A further NCA statement on Friday (April 4) confirmed that the 13 individuals, who were interviewed at police stations across the country, had been bailed until late June.

It is understood that Millwall retained the option of ending Campbell’s loan spell when agreeing a deal with Rovers in January.
