BLACKBURN Rovers are focused on boosting their own faint play-off hopes tonight – insisting they will not care if a win over QPR virtually confirms promotion for rivals Burnley.

Rovers sit seven points behind the play-off places with only six games left to play and victory at home to third-placed QPR may ultimately prove more useful for Burnley than for them.

But Rovers have not yet given up on a place in the top six and have stressed they are concerned only about themselves.

“We’re not really thinking about Burnley at all,” said defender Michael Keane.

“We don’t really care about that, we’ve just got to focus on ourselves. If we beat QPR it’s going to help us get towards the play-offs.”

Boss Gary Bowyer said: “All we’re concentrating on is ourselves.

“We’ve just got to keep our run going, we’re six unbeaten now.

“It’s about us and nobody else. There are six games left and that’s 18 points.

“While we have the opportunity to get 18 points, this group will want to do that.”

Keane helped Rovers secure their first clean sheet in eight games in Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Ipswich Town.

“We’ve been having some good performances lately but we’ve not managed to turn them into wins,” said the on-loan Manchester United star.

“To finally get a win at the weekend was a bit of a relief for all the players, and hopefully we can kick on and get a few more.

“We’re still trying to win every game. While we’re still in touching distance of the play-offs we’ll keep going.

“If we win most of our games between now and the end of the season we’ll be close to it.

“We’ve just got to win our games and hope for a bit of luck.”

Harry Redknapp’s QPR have slipped 10 points behind Burnley in the race for automatic promotion and have lost five of their last seven away games, but welcomed back top scorer Charlie Austin as a substitute at the weekend.

“It will be a difficult game against a Premier League manager with Premier League players,” Bowyer said. “That’s the challenge and we’ve got to pit ourselves against them and see how far we’ve come.

“With the quality they’ve got and their strength and depth it is a surprise that they’re third, but they can still get automatic promotion so they’re not going to come up here just for a jolly-up.

“They’ll be wanting the three points to close the gap on the top two.”

Jason Lowe is set to return to the Blackburn Rovers squad after missing the last five games with an ankle injury.

But Corry Evans remains a doubt after limping off with a groin problem during Saturday’s home win against Ipswich.

“We’ll give him every chance, we’ll see how he goes,” Bowyer said.

“But Lowey’s fine, he trained on Friday and joined in on Sunday, so he’s back in the squad ready to go.”

Cheers guys and good luck.

After already allowing your handsomely paid players Leon Best and David Goodwillie to score priceless goals against QPR in the last couple of weeks, it would be lovely of you to help Burnley's promotion bound juggernaut to move closer to the promised land, please do your friends down the M65 proud and beat the Hoops for us.

Don't worry pal, we need this more than you do... 5 points away from playoffs against 10 points clear of them....

yer.

QPR are not the only disappointment this season. Derby, Forest, Watford and Wigan (just coming strong) have had poor seasons and failed to step up to the plate. Hence the top two running away with it and Rovers despite an average season amazingly still within touching distance of the play offs.
I repeat, IMO this has been a poor Championship this year and if this is the standard we can expect we should have nothing to fear next season when we should be stronger and more consistent.
Let's keep going for a strong finish to set us nicely up for next year.

2 things,
Forget Burnley, they will take care of it themselves.

Reading vs Bournemouth tonight. look after your own business and something has to give for you. Either closer to the play offs or above the form side in the division.
Crucial game and good luck

Virtually every single result, suspension and injury has gone in your favour this season Charles. Tonight will be no different.

Rovers 2-1 QPR

Barnsley 1-3 Burnley

I bet Bowyer can't wait to get Lowe back in midfield, when he does that will end our season.
By the way McClaret it's Bournemouth v Reading. If you have to come on our page get your facts right.
