Bacup and Rossendale Borough out to continue survival march

Lancashire Telegraph: Brent Peters Brent Peters

BACUP and Rossendale Borough will be looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since August as they continue their fight for survival in the North West Counties League Premier Division.

Brent Peters’ side gave their survival prospects a real shot in the arm in midweek with a 3-0 home win over Squires Gate which means they are in the bottom two only on goal difference.

And a victory over a Stockport side who Borough beat in the reverse fixture to complete those successive wins of the season, could see Bacup climb as high as 18th in the table.

Adrian Bellamy scored his third in as many games on Wednesday night to complete the scoring after an own goal and Paul Socha had put Borough in the driving seat.

Elsewhere, Colne drew 0-0 in midweek with title outsiders Glossop North End and travel to West Didsbury and Chorlton tomorrow. Barnoldswick Town are without a game.

In Division One, manager of the month Mark Fell will be hoping leaders Nelson can take another step towards the title when they host fourth-placed Atherton Collieries. AFC Darwen visit Formby.

Chorley are back on top of the pile in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division and will expect to stay there when they welcome already relegated Droylsden to Victory Park.

The Magpies are two points clear ahead of a crunch clash with third placed FC United of Manchester on Tuesday night.

In Division One North promotion chasing Ramsbottom host Kendal looking to maintain their charge for the play-offs.

Padiham host Cammell Laird and Clitheroe visit Warrington.
