FIFTEEN junior Chorley Athletic and Triathlon Club members turned out for their first aquathlon of the season, and for many, their first event of this kind.

Aquathlons are part of the triathlon series, and consists of a swim and transition straight into a run, finishing on the athletics track.

A Chorley spokesperson said: “They all did amazingly well, supported and cheered each other on and had smiles on their faces throughout. A brilliant day was had by all and it was a proud bunch of mums and dads on Mother’s Day.”

The event was hosted by City of Lancaster Triathlon Club and Carnforth Otters ASA and held at Salt Ayre Sports Centre in Lancaster.

Chorley, meanwhile, has received a major boost to developing its junior triathlete section with a grant of nearly £6,000 from Sport England.
