THE Blackburn Rovers Football & Community Action Group would like to respond to an article published in the Lancashire Telegraph on March 18.

We believe the column, written by Dan Clough, was done so in a way that suggests the group is considering reigniting protests and would welcome the dismissal of manager Gary Bowyer. This is absolutely not true.

The BRFC Action Group has not “re-emerged” as Mr Clough begins by saying. The group has been active all season in holding constructive dialogue with the club and, as recently as this weekend against Leicester City, the group obtained 48 match tickets to be made available for Foster Carers Association and Targeted Youth Support so that a number of youngsters could enjoy a memorable day at Ewood Park.

This included ground tours, a pre-match lunch and meeting Rovers star Ben Marshall before taking in what turned out to be a tremendous football match.

The group are proud sponsors of club captain Grant Hanley and have worked with the club on many initiatives over the last 12 months in attempts to rebuild relationships with the club and its supporters. We welcome the stability that Gary Bowyer has brought to the club following three years of misguided freefall and are well aware that there is no quick fix to the turmoil that has happened before him. Many individuals across the supporter base did indeed express their displeasure following the recent run of three defeats and this was evident in many social arenas around the borough, many social media pages and internet message boards, including the one provided by the Lancashire Telegraph. In our opinion to write an article that suggested all of those supporters are attributed to the BRFC Action Group is wrong.
