IAN Wilkinson lies 66th at the halfway point of the Tour du Normandie stage race in France.

The Barnoldswick ace, riding for Raleigh, is 34 seconds down on leader Tom Moses (Rapha Condor).

Richard Handley, another Lancashire rider and team-mate of Moses is currently in 50th place overall, seven seconds ahead of Wilkinson.

Both Lancashire riders finished in the main bunch in Wednesday’s third stage with Wilkinson 14th on stage two, again finishing in the main field alongside Handley.

In the opening 3.4km prologue Handley was 76th Wilkinson was 111th.

The six-stage race finishes on Sunday and both riders will be looking to secure a top 50 placing.

Meanwhile, Hope Technology, based in Barnoldswick, saw Sam Flanagan finish second in the category four race at the Lancaster University & YMCA Sprint Criterium.

Kendal-based Wheelbase Altura MGD saw Alex Orrell-Turner finish fourth in the BBM Revolution Cycling Club Spring Road Race in East Riding.

And Padiham’s Rebecca Rimmington continued her fine form with a victory in the women’s Spring Cotton Spinners Crit. Rimmington rides for Trainsharp.

Today also marks the 100 days to go point before the Tour de France begins in Yorkshire. Chorley’s Bradley Wiggins will be among the starters.
