ROSSENDALE gave a decent account of themselves in a triangular tournament in Blackpool, despite suffering two late defeats.
In the first game against Wirral, Dale trailed 5-0 at the break but hit back after half-time, forcing Wirral into conceding a penalty on the edge of their own twenty-two, from which Ciaran Campbell went over to score.
Rossendale scored a second try through Mark Rutherford-Shaw, but Dale were denied in the last minute when Wirral sneaked a converted try to win 12-10.
Rossendale faced hosts Fylde in the second fixture, and suffered another late loss.
James Willetts crossed the line early on for their first try and Rhys Tighe scored again with the two sides locked together 10-10 at half-time.
Fylde went ahead through a converted try, but then Willetts raced half the length of the field to score and convert to level the scores.
But Fylde won it at the death with a converted score for a 24-17 win.
