Tyldesley 7
Burnley Thirds 19

HAVING secured promotion from Raging Bull North West League Division Five last week, Burnley now need just one more win to be crowned champions.

Burnley, who have lost just three times all season, travelled to a Tyldesley side who still had an outside chance of going up and who had lost just once at home throughout the campaign.

Burnley looked sharp, running the ball well and this enabled Matt Fisher to race down the right wing to score the first try and help him to become Burnley’s joint leading try scorer for the season.

However, no sooner had he gone joint top, Dom Leck went clear – jinking his way to the line and converting the try himself.

But Burnley allowed Tyldesley back in to the game with the hosts scoring a try which they converted.

The hosts then tried to run the ball out of their own 22 but master poacher Lloyd Whittaker intercepted a pass to score for Burnley under the posts.

The weather detoriated in the second half making play difficult – and neither side added to their scoring total as Burnley took the points.
