Blackburn win battle of the top dogs

BLACKBURN United claimed the title bragging rights as they knocked Premier Division title rivals Rishton United off the summit.

Long time leaders United were back in the groove again, cruising to a 3-1 win to open up a single point lead at the top, although Rishton can still boast three games in hand.

Third-placed Wellington Inn crashed 5-1 at home to Anchor who are now just a place behind them.

Vauxhall Inn and Feildens Arms shared eight goals, but Feildens claimed the points with a 5-3 win.

The game between Clifton and Hole I'Th Wall was postponed.

Clayton Park remain the title favourites in the Second Division as they charged to a 4-0 victory at bottom club Blackburn Eagles, who are still without a league win this term.

The Ivy Veterans, proved their is still life in the old legs as they remain in second spot and firmly in the title hunt, though, after they cruised to a 4-1 success over Alexandra Hotel.

Rishton United Reserves crashed 3-1 at home to IMO, while strugglers Worth Avenue shocked Whalley Range 5-3.

In the Cotton Cup Group Stage, Greenfield defeated Blackburn Olympic 3-0.
