Rimington remain in the title hunt

CHAMPIONS Rimington remain on track to defend their First Division title after another impressive away-day performance.

Terry Braithwaite's men closed the gap on leaders, The Ivy, posting a hard fought 2-1 win against Enfield at Lammack Road.

With The Ivy's clash against Oswaldtwistle St Marys postponed, Rimington have cut their lead to a couple of points.

Burnley Athletic, in second spot, cruised to a 3-1 win over bottom club Colne United.

Read United were the big winners, crushing Rock Rovers 7-3, while Pendle Forest celebrated a 3-2 win at Burnley Belvedere.

Whinney Hill kept their Reserve Division title title hopes alive with a crushing 5-1 win over strugglers Peel Park.

Bottom of the table Waddington saw off Barrowford Celtic 3-0 in the basement battle, while Rimington were convincing winners by the same scoreline at Burnley Belvedere.

In the Bob Little Section first round, there were impressive wins for Prairie United, Waddington and Whinney Hill FC.
