Stanley boss Beattie: I've had no contact from Oxford
ACCRINGTON Stanley manager James Beattie says he has not heard anything in relation to the vacant manager's job at Oxford United.
The Reds boss continues to be linked to the role, following the departure of Chris Wilder at the end of January.
Beattie distanced himself from the position last month but remains in the running, along with Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale.
But, despite rumours circulating in Oxfordshire that an appointment would be made soon and that Beattie was favourite, he insists he has not been contacted by the League Two club.
“I haven’t heard anything,” he said. “I think it’s credit to the boys if my name's getting linked to jobs that are vacant.
“I haven’t heard anything personally.
“Nobody has called me or emailed me or texted me. I’m just concentrating on our next 10 games.
“We know how important they are to the boys and the club so that’s what I’m concentrating on at the moment.”
Stanley have fitness doubts over Laurence Wilson for tomorrow’s home game with Plymouth but Michael Liddle is fit again and could start at left back. Alternatively, Beattie may switch Wigan loanee Adam Buxton to the left and recall Nicky Hunt at right back.
