Rossendale U14s 41
Colne and Nelson U14s 0

JAMES Willetts bagged a hat-trick of tries as rampant Rossendale overwhelmed neighbours Colne and Nelson at Marl Pits.

The opening exchanges proved a scrappy affair, until Rossendale took the game by the scruff of the neck after half an hour.

Mark Rutherford-Smith capped off a surging run, going in under the posts before Ciaran Campbell sliced through the visitors’ defence to cross the whitewash again as 'Dale switched into overdrive.

James Willetts successfully landed two conversions to hand them a 14-0 half-time lead.

Willetts fired over a quick penalty, and then dived over the line to score himself – before landing his second try, following a short pass delivery.

Minutes later Willetts celebrated his hat-trick after chasing and collecting his own chip kick to go over the line and score.

Rossendale added a further try through Mark Rutherford-Smith, his second try of the contest, and converted by Willetts.

Rossendale's final try of the game and their seventh was landed by Tom Haigh, following a set piece move from the line-out.

The man of the match prize was awarded to Max Lyth following excellent work at scrum half.
