A TOTAL of 22 teams competed in Pendle Schools Year Five/Six Indoor Sportshall Athletics with the top six reaching the final at Pendle Vale College.

They competed in 10 running, jumping and throwing events which were officiated by students from Pendle Vale College and Fishermore High School.

The competition was fierce and the title was not decided until the last two races of the evening with Laneshawbridge eventually crowned champions – two points ahead of runners-up Blacko.

“With so many people in the hall there was a great atmosphere and all competitors responded to this,” said School Games Organiser Neil Stewart.

Laneshawbridge continued their winning run from last year and were once again, crowned champions ane went on to represent Pendle at the Sainsburys Lancashire Schools Games in Thornton Cleveleys.

Blacko also booked their trip to Thornton Cleveleys to represent the borough in the small school competition.
