JOE Rodriguez, the brother of Premier League star and ex-Claret Jay, was on the mark for Burnley United again as they climbed into the top half of the Premier Division table for the first time this year.

While Jay was on target in Southampton's 4-2 win over Norwich City, Joe chipped in alongside Elliott Flanagan and Danny Cotes as Burnley cruised to a 3-1 win over Slyne with Hest on the shores of Morecambe Bay.

Longridge Town's slide down the table continued though, crashing 4-1 to Thornton Cleveleys.

Rick Coar had levelled it for Longridge after Jason Rawcliffe's opener for the Fylde outfit, who added three second half goals through Shaun Slater (2) and Jimmy Hone to claim the points.

Fulwood Amateurs have snapped up former Preston and West Bromwich Albion midfielder Lee Ashcroft, and he was on the mark against Eagley at Lightfoot Green.

However, Eagley goals from Ashley Morris and Scott McNare denied Tony Hesketh's men.

Title favourites Charnock Richard eased themselves eleven points clear at the summit, with a Carl Grimshaw double leading the charge in a routine 3-0 win over Blackpool Wren Rovers.

Mill Hill St Peters are battling to stay alive in Division One after a 3-0 defeat at Burscough Richmond, but Hurst Green are eyeing top spot as their sparkling run of form continued with victory over Furness Rovers.

Alan Coar and Sam Hays scored as Hurst Green closed the gap on leaders Lostock St Gerards, who suffered a home defeat to BAC/EE Preston, to five points.

In Division Two, hot shots Thomas Hulme (2) and Eddie Smart (2) were on the double for Haslingden St Marys in a 4-2 win over Askam United.

Burnley United’s struggle in Division One Reserves continued, suffering another heavy home defeat, this time 7-3 to Wyre Villa Reserves.

Connerly Steen, Gary Hodgkinson and Mike Duxbury netted for Burnley, but it was all in vain as Wyre cruised to victory.

Four goal Stuart Davies led the charge for Hurst Green in Division Two Reserves as they ran out 7-2 winners at Croston Sports with Ashley Brierley, Zach Foley and Edward Drake also weighing for the Ribble Valley outfit.

Second placed Hurst Green are now just a win behind leaders Mill Hill St Peters.

Longridge Town, meantime, sank into the bottom three following a 4-0 home defeat to Leyland United.
