Manchester United fans are at their lowest ebb as their team continues to suffer their worst season for a generation.

They have never known times like it - but surely this is a good thing for football.

No-one wants to start a season knowing which four clubs will take the top four places. You want different teams to be challenging and for the neutral it makes for great viewing.

Now if only it could be arranged for Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea to slip up, football would be grand.
