THERE was a dramatic end to the annual Fred Musgrove team knockout in the PK Kitchens Burnley and District Snooker League.

In the two legged final between Burnley Snooker Club and Alexandra Snooker, it ended all square and the contest was decided on a sudden death frame.

Burnley SC won the first leg 3-2 on home soil but the scores were reversed on their trip to Nelson in the return leg.

With the aggregate score 5-5, a deciding frame was played to decide who would be the champions.

Burnley put Simon Lawless to the table who was up against Alexandra’s John Lanceley to the table.

With both men on a big minus, they were each capable of some very good snooker.

But in the end, it was Lawless who came through in a cagey deciding frame to guide Burnley to victory.

The competition is played in memory of Fred Musgrove who served the league as president and secretary for many years.
