Laura Massaro showed a true fighting spirit to win her first title of the season when she beat Raneem El Weleily in the final of the Windy City Open in Chicago.
The world number two from Chorley came out on top in a real see-saw battle, eventually beating the Egyptian 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 3-11, 11-6 in a final that lasted just under an hour.
The 30-year-old had to dig even deeper to reach the final when she beat France’s Camille Serme, coming from behind to win 11-9, 12-14, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6 in a match that lasted 89 minutes.
