ROSSENDALE just missed out on a place in the semi finals of the Blacksticks Plate after Bolton scored a last-gasp try to seal victory.

Dale were 8-5 after James Willetts kept his nerve to kick the visitors ahead with six minutes remaining.

But Bolton refused to give in and after Dale were on the wrong end of four consecutive penalty decisions, the home side went over to score the winning try.

Dale had scored the opening try of a pulsating game when when Rhys Tighe burst up field before passing to Ciaran Campbell, who in turn passed to Tom Haigh to sprint over to score just before the break.

Bolton hit back with a try off their own to level matters in the second half before late drama saw them through.
