JOE Crawford and Reiko Rickwood are the latest titles winners to role of the Sandygate Amateur Boxing Club production line.

The two talented young fighters were victorious at the England Boxing North West Minors Final’s and will now compete in the national quarter finals this month.

The North West finals were held at Walkden 6th Form in Salford and first up for the Hargreaves Street boxing club was Ighten Hill’s Joe Crawford against Samuel Turner from Croxteth ABC.

And straight from the opening bell, the classy Crawford showed little signs of nerves, making his intentions known straight from the off, connecting well with a lead hand which rocked Turner straight onto the back foot.

It was the same in each round and it was to no-one’s surprise when the Burnley boxer’s hand was raised the victor with a unanimous 3-0 verdict from all the judges ringside.

Stoop’s Estate Reiko was next up facing Class A 43kg Schoolboy champion Mike Jeory from Preston and Fulwood ABC.

Rickwood, who also maintains a 100 per cent record, was matched by size and frame with Jeory – but that was the only similarity.

Like his stablemate Crawford, Rickwood showed total control in each of the three round contest and again gave the judges the simply decision to announce him the winner.

Both unbeaten Sandygate hot-shots now go through to the England Boxing quarter-finals later this month.
