The weather once again played its part in wrecking the Blackburn Sunday League fixture schedule with only a handful of games surviving.

The last quarter final tie of the Blue & White Rosebowl took place between Sunday trophy finalist Oswaldtwistle St Mary’s and Darwen Victoria, and the Oswaldtwistle team were made to work every inch of the way to earn a place in the semi final with a 4-2 win.

But that only tells half the story in a very eventful match which saw both goalkeepers dismissed and the Darwen team fight back from 2-0 down to level the match only to have their goalkeeper dismissed and concede two late goals to their division one opponents.

In the only game to survive in Division One Longshaw carried on their good form with a 5-1 demolition of AMT Lawyers with a hat-trick from Dennis Stafford and a brace from S Mullen.

In Division Two, Royal Oak the long time leaders finally clinched the title without kicking a ball, while promotion rivals Whinney Hill and Stanhill WMC went head-to-head and shared the points in a very entertaining 1-1 draw, while Black Bull had a very resounding victory in a 7-3 win over JQ Plumbing.

In Division Three, Golden Cup bounced back to form with a well earned 3-1 victory over Haslingden side Green Squirrel.

The draw for the Semi Finals of the Blue and White Rosebowl has thrown up two very interesting ties; Clifton take on fellow Division One rivals Oswaldtwistle St Mary’s in what is undoubtedly the tie of the round; In the second semi final, Division One side Station take on in-form Crown Paints from Division Two.

Both games will be played at Griffin Park, home of Mill Hill Football Club, on dates to be confirmed.
