SECONDARY schools across Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley battled it out for volleyball glory.

The competition was organised by the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley School Sports Partnership and was hosted by Norden High School.

A total of six teams entered the girls event which could not have been any closer.

Accrington Academy and St Augustine’s were tied for first place but it was the Academy who won on account of more points scored.

And Norden and Hollins were tied for third place with Hollins winning the bronze on points scored.

The boys event was more clear cut with Hollins dominating from the outset – they were unbeaten throughout the whole competition. Clitheroe Grammar came third while Norden only had two players and were aided by their PE teacher Mr Juriansz.
