THE final Lancashire Sportshall League event of the season saw personal bests for all but one of the 16 young Chorley members taking part.

In the Under 11 boys competition Jack Hughes won the javelin with a throw of 17.25m while Martin Rimmer finished third in the one-lap race and fifth in the sitting ball throw.

The U11 girls were the biggest team on show for Chorley with Amelia Bowles leading the way by finishing second in the sitting ball throw and third in the vertical jump.

Zara Johnson, Tia Fyfe and Amber Boardman joined forces with Amelia to finish sixth in the U13 relay race which, for a team made up of U11 competitors, was a superb achievement.

Erin Boardman, Alice Singleton and Isobelle Farron joined Lauren to gain important team points in the U11 obstacle relay.

Chorley’s U13 boys were spearheaded by Ben Hughes, who was the athlete of the match in his age group.

He won the standing long jump (2.20m), standing triple jump (6.92m) and speed bounce and came 0.03 seconds behind the winner of the four-lap race.

Ben was joined by Finlay Campbell and two U11 boys to finish fourth in the team relay race.

In the U15 competition Holly Brookes threw a personal best of 7.69m to win the shot.

Holly’s sole efforts ensured Chorley came fourth overall in the final U15s girls standings.

Over the series, the U11 girls finished sixth, the U11 boys fourth, the U13 boys fourth, the U13 girls ninth, and the U15 girls fourth.
