RAIN once again wrecked the West Lancashire League football programme, with only four games going ahead in the top two divisions.

In the Premier Division, Ross McNare's winner saw strugglers Tempest United stun second placed Blackpool Wren Rovers as Tempest moved out of the bottom four with a priceless 1-0 win.

In the other fixture, Fulwood Amateurs remain deep in relegation trouble after a 4-2 home defeat to third placed Fleetwood Hesketh at Lighfoot Green.

Jim Slater had fired Fulwood in front on the half hour, before Connor Wright levelled it shortly afterwards.

Two goals in as many minutes from David Brooks and Wright's second of the game put the visitors firmly in charge.

Reece Fishwick reduced the deficit for Tony Hesketh's team to signal a rousing finale to an entertaining clash, before Steve Hoy wrapped up the points for Fleetwood in the final minute.

Carl McKay was on the double for Hawcoat Park in Division One, scoring twice in a hard-fought 3-2 win over Burscough Richmond, who saw Mike Edwards and Lee Berry find the target.

In Division Two, Ladybridge produced one of their best shows of the campaign, crushing Barrow Wanderers 4-0.

Oillie Bretherton led the charge with two goals while John Smalley and Kameel Demiter also weighed in.

In Division One Reserves, Coppull United and Garstang Reserves shared a 2-2 draw - with Bruno Vasney and David McEvoy on the mark for Coppull.

The WLFL Challenge Cup first round tie between Leyland United and Milnthorpe Corinthians was postponed.

The league will be hoping for better weather this weekend to help fulfil its fixture list.
