Lowerhouse CC have announced a major boost for their junior coaching with the establishment of the Harry Brooks Cricket Foundation.

Lowerhouse director Mark Whitehead was responsible for the arrangement.

He said: “We are enormously grateful for this investment from Harry.

“It is marvellous to have a generous local benefactor supporting our cause. We spend between £5k and £8k per year on our juniors and whilst the parents dig deep into their pockets, the club has to find a huge sum also.

“This is a tremendous help to us and will guarantee that we can continue to strive to give the children the best coaching, the best training and the optimum of game opportunities that we possibly can. We think with this investment that we can raise the bar higher and as a starting point we will increase our junior sides to 14 this season.”

Brooks, who will fund the Foundation said: “It did my heart good to see the kids enjoying their cricket and to support this good work. It was a delight to see the youngsters learning the game and clearly enjoying themselves.”
