A HANDFUL of games in the Accrington and District Junior Football League managed to beat the weather at the weekend - and Whalley Juniors were particularly glad of getting the go-ahead.

Their under 12s, who are top of the table, roared to a 7-0 win over Feniscowles and Pleasington to open up a four-point lead over Mill Hill White, who were inactive but have also played two games more than their near neighbours and rivals.

The biggest win of the day came in the U11s league as Wilpshire Wanderers Blue extended their advantage at the top to four points thanks to their 11-0 success over Blackburn Eagles.

Huncoat United White U15s also hit the goal trail as they beat Whalley Juniors 10-0, while Rishton United U11s beat Huncoat United 10-1.
