TWO teams with opposing current forms met at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium and, true to form, the Rams extended their league run to just one defeat in 17 games, while condemning Mossley to their ninth defeat from the last 10.

However, credit to the Lilywhites for making it tough for the home side, as they dug in to belie their poor form – and gave the home side a severe test before two late goals settled the contest.

As was to be expected, Ramsbottom began well and they nudged ahead in 10th minute.

Lee Gaskell gathered the ball on the edge of the box, and cleverly held off his marker before creating the space to spot Chris Thewlis in the Mossley goal, off his line. A delicate chip saw the ball beat the keeper and creep in under the bar.

Gaskell and Darren Green both went close but the Rams had to be content with a 1-0 lead at the break.

They continued to dominate in the second half but Mossley began to get in the game and drew level in the 65th minute through a Richard Bennett header.

But the Rams regained the lead in the 78th minute when Jordan Hulme showed great persistence after his initial effort was charged down, he regained possession and scored with a fine strike.

Substitute Chris Denham made sure of the points when his weak shot beat the unsighted Threwliss in the Mossley goal.
