L’Avenue holds a leading chance in the 32Red.com Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton.

The James Tate-trained filly looked badly in need of the experience on debut over course and distance last month before getting the hang of things and staying on well enough to take second, miles clear of the third.

The form is not desperate, with the winner running a reasonable third in a handicap off 68 subsequently, and she showed she acts on the surface.

Graham Lee is a good booking and just average progress should see the daughter of Champs Elysees involved again, especially with the yard in such good form.

Spreadable makes some appeal in the 32Red Casino Handicap.

It is quite interesting to see Nick Littmoden revert to sprinting with this Duke Of Marmalade gelding, who remains a maiden after five tries but is not without ability.

The last twice over seven furlongs here nothing has been going better two out, but for whatever reason he has not got his head in front.

There is every chance this strong traveller could be in his element dropped to six furlongs.

Best bet at Lingfield looks to be Jo Crowley’s The Holyman in the 32Red Handicap.

The six-year-old returns to a track that has served him well for the first time since February last year, and is on a mark just 1lb higher than when last successful on the Polytrack here.

Having not been seen since August, fitness has to be taken on trust but Adam Kirby takes the ride for the first time and that shows the right sort of intention.

Bretherton can break his duck at the fourth time of asking in the Best Odds At bookmakers.co.uk Maiden Stakes.

Trained by Richard Fahey and not cheap at £100,000, the three-year-old has been progressing with racing and put in his best effort yet when just failing at Wolverhampton.

This looked like being quite a warm heat at the five-day stage but it has cut up and the Fahey runner will not get many better chances to start repaying his purchase price.

Venetia Williams has her string in fantastic form and can add to her tally with Saroque, who lines up in the SIS Live Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at Plumpton.

The seven-year-old appeared fairly limited over hurdles, winning just once from eight starts, but he has raised his game considerably over the larger obstacles.

After finishing second on his fencing bow at Ffos Las, Saroque comfortably went one better at Newbury late last month, beating the in-form Glen Countess by four lengths.

An 8lb rise makes life tougher, but the selection is clearly in good heart and handles testing ground, so has plenty going for him.

The Follow At Timeform1948 On Twitter Handicap Hurdle looks a great opportunity for Jeremy Scott’s improving mare Night Of Passion to secure a third successive win.

Following a couple of good efforts in defeat at Towcester and Exeter, the six-year-old appeared to relish the step up in distance and the easier surface as she struck by 10 lengths over this course and distance in mid-December.

She duly followed up under a penalty at Bangor, this time coming home with 11 lengths in hand, and the handicapper has unsurprisingly bumped her up a further stone in the weights to a mark of 100.

The assessor is bound to catch up with her before too long, but with the ultra-testing ground right up her street, there might just be another day in her.
