Bowyer: ‘No bids for skipper’

Lancashire Telegraph: Scott Dann Scott Dann

BLACKBURN Rovers manager Gary Bowyer says there has been no official approach for his captain Scott Dann – or for any of his players.

Dann is wanted by Crystal Palace and reports have suggested that the Premier League new boys are willing to pay up to £3m for the Rovers skipper if he agrees to Palace’s wage structure.

But Bowyer said: “Nothing has come in in writing for any of our players. Until then it’s just pure speculation.”

New Palace boss Tony Pulis has refused to discuss his interest in Dann.

Pulis said: “I’ve been linked with 40 players – you get linked all the time.

“If we do our business I’m sure once it’s done you can ask me about it.

“I’ve got a list of players and the chairman has got the list of players.

“We need to do it. We need to get deals done if we’re going to push on.”

Bowyer must sell before he can buy after signing Tom Cairney and Rudy Gestede for a combined £800,000.

But that has not stopped him drawing up a list of potential targets.

Bowyer added: “If somebody comes along to aid the squad and make us better then that is something we’d go to the owners with – once we have moved one or two out.”

Meanwhile, Rovers academy graduates John O’Sullivan and Kellen Daly have joined Skrill Premier strugglers Southport, managed by former Accrington Stanley boss John Coleman, on one-month loan deals.

Neither has made a first-team appearance for Rovers this season.

Don't see the point in GB going for any other players if he has got to reduce the wage bill, unless he gets in players to replace the ones he is selling but what is the point of that. There are loads of fringe players to shift first. What is happening with all these guys from Portugal etc.

GB is right to be thinking about how to improve the squad if he gets the opportunity.

There are certainly some players in Bowyers squad that don't need to be replaced, Etuhu, Orr and Ollson are the obvious names who would free up wages. And as you say, plenty on the fringe who probably won't make it.

I'd also happily unload Best and Campbell for one new striker.

I think the key phrase is " accepts Palace's wage structure".

Go to a PL club threatened with relegation and be paid less than you are on at a Championship club that has an outside chance of promotion.

No brainer really.

I am quite sure GB has got his handle on it, he comes from pedigree football background.
He will know the mentality of footballers, he will have done his plans knowing if a good offer comes for any of his players ,and they want to go he will sell, hence perhaps his buys.

Irregardless of the owners we have a intelligent manager in GB that is capable of consolidating Rovers and moving us forward .

DO we stick with honest men like GB or do we want to go back to the dishonourable dishonest times of the. KEAN/HENDRY era ?

French Rover , Get your facts CORRECT ,
Eric Kinder is the manager of the under 21 s , he is on 45,000 pounds. A year, and Kinder is doing a superb job with the youngsters

Keans legacy was giving Hendry a 2 year contract on 400,000 pounds a year , allegedly to pay the bankrupts debts to a director.

With Hendry's history /background of gambling and violence it would not be sensible to allow Hendry in charge of youngsters.

I see Etuhu is still injured so there is no hope that he can be given away and Best Olson Orr and others will remain sadly on our wage bill.
Sad to see O'Sullivan being sidelined as he looked a good prospect last season. Youngsters I am afraid lose heart if too long on the fringe.
I am looking forward to a good win against Doncaster particulerly if we play Gestede and Rhodes up front together. However not betting on this one as I am a little uneasy about the outcome.

Unfortunately is is far easier to create toxic waste than to dispose of it. I fear that the stench will be around for the foreseeable future.
