TOP-scorer Jordan Rhodes should return to lead Blackburn Rovers’ line for tomorrow’s home clash with Doncaster.

After a run of 23 consecutive starts the 16-goal striker was rested for last weekend’s FA Cup draw with Manchester City.

But Rhodes, who came on for the final nine minutes of the 1-1 Ewood Park draw, is expected to be in Gary Bowyer’s starting XI tomorrow.

Rovers boss Bowyer said: “We had a busy Christmas period and Jordan had a niggle so we saw it as an opportunity to get some minutes into Rudy Gestede and rest Jordan at the same time, with also having one eye on bringing him on and scoring the winner.

“The little bit of a breather will have done him the world of good.

“He was then able to take a couple of days off to recover from it completely.”

Midfielder David Dunn will come into contention tomorrow after missing the last four matches with a hamstring strain.

But Todd Kane (thigh), Corry Evans (ankle) and Dickson Etuhu (ankle) remain sidelined.

Bowyer also has a ‘dilemma’ over who to select in goal after fit-again keeper Paul Robinson made an impressive comeback against City after 13 months on the sidelines.

Rovers have sold 2,100 tickets of their initial 2,800-ticket allocation for Wednesday night’s FA Cup replay with Manchester City.
