Captain Scott Dann is wanted by Crystal Palace. If an acceptable bid comes in for him, would you sell to reduce the club’s losses? Or would you look elsewhere within the squad?

SCOTT Dann started his Rovers career with a lot of criticism and many would have been happy to see him leave. It is testimony to the player that he has changed many opinions which were justified and rigid.

There are still elements to his game lacking but it would be bad business to allow him to leave for a fraction of the fee we paid for him.

I struggle to think of another player who could naturally take on the captaincy.

I would first and foremost look to release players such as Leon Best and Dickson Etuhu, who are costing a lot of money and having no impact on the pitch.

TO sell Scott Dann to reduce the deficit would be a drop in the ocean of debt.

And given Dann has taken his last two clubs down, and taking into account Rovers’ current position, stranger things have happened than the club he may join swapping places with us come May.

Sadly the players who are surplus to requirements are players on massive salaries whom no club would pay a fee for, nor take on the wage bill.

Dann is decent – but at this level. He may need someone to remind him how much he struggled in the Premier League last time.

OBVIOUSLY there’s a lot of dead weight at Rovers that I would rather discard, but nobody would be daft enough to take it off us.

Losing Scott Dann would be a blow despite him never really quite living up to expectations.

At least we have Matt Kilgallon waiting in the wings to partner Grant Hanley.

Eventually the club’s financial debt is going to mean we have to sell some of our better players and I would rather see Dann go than Jordan Rhodes.

What a pity we are haemorrhaging money to players who often aren’t even in the squad.
