SEVEN world snooker champions have now confirmed their participation in a charity event at Accrington Golf Club which will be held later this month.

Peter Ebdon has joined Steve Davis, John Higgins, John Parrott, Mark Williams, Ken Doherty and Shaun Murphy among the list of snooker stars who will trade cues for clubs to raise money for the Paul Hunter Foundation on January 24.

Willie Thorne, Graeme Dott, Stuart Bingham and Mike Hallett, Gerard Greene, Mark Allen, Mark Davis, Joe Perry, Marcus Campbell, Ryan Day and Matt Selt are also due to play.

The golf day – in honour of Paul Hunter, the snooker player who lost his battle with cancer in 2006 – is the brainchild of Hyndburn councillor Tony Dobson and will feature 18 teams fighting it out for victory.

Teams of three can enter, with a snooker player completing each team.

The cost to enter is £500 per team and places still remain for two teams.

There is an auction for teams to bid for the snooker star they most want to make up their golf team of four, and bids for Davis have already passed the £1,000 mark.

Spectators are welcome and can purchase tickets for £5 in advance online at www.paulhuntercharitygolfday.co.uk, or £10 on the day.

Anyone requiring further information can contact Dobson on 07774 470870.
