DAILY SPORTS DEBATE: Who should Blackburn Rovers and Burnley target?

Lancashire Telegraph: Burnley have had a bid rejected for Brighton striker Ashley Barnes Burnley have had a bid rejected for Brighton striker Ashley Barnes

WITH the transfer window now open, managers up and down the country will be busy attempting to strengthen their squads as well as trying to keep hold of their star players.

With this in mind, we would like to know what moves you would like to see this month - within reason of course.

Blackburn Rovers have already completed the permanent signings of Tom Cairney and Rudy Gestede, but who else would you like to see Gary Bowyer bring in?

Burnley are in the market for a striker and have had a bid for Brighton’s Ashley Barnes turned down, but does Sean Dyche also need to look elsewhere in his hunt for more bodies?

Don't really think Rovers need any further signings, but getting the wage bill lower getting rid of Etuhu, Robinson, Orr, Best, Olsson and DJ would be a nice bit of business.

Getting rid of 2 or 3 of these and seeing the return of David Goodwillie (13/01 due back) would give us plenty of good cover in all areas and much better finances.

I think Blackburn just need to see Evans back and they've a pretty strong squad.

Reluctantaly I think we'll struggle to attract anyone, Ings is flattering to deceive at present as a one season wonder though may get taken off us in any case and I fear we're going to nosedive.

I agree that Rovers need to reduce their squad before anything else. Etuhu in particular has been nothing but dreadful for us unfortunately. You have to ask questions of the likes of Alex Marrow, Lee Williamson, and Markus Olsson. Are they ever going to play enough games to warrant them being here? At least Olsson could cover at LB if Spurr was injured I suppose.
We definitely need someone to help Rhodes with the goalscoring. Our next highest scorers have an almighty 2 goals to their names.
I'd like to see Goodwillie given another chance, as at least he puts the effort in unlike most of the other forward lads. Might be time for the likes of Best to be moved on if he's just going to sulk.

Burnley's problem is their squad size. It's this time of year where a small squad gets stretched, so a little strengthening in all areas and they may hang on in there. Fair play to them if they do.

Burnley should sign jaque qusto as they are way out of their depth. Also he will come in handy when they nosedive into the depths. Captain caveman dyche has worked miracles at this minnows of a club. But its time to move out the way and let the big guns through.
Rovers just need to get shut of a few. Maybe burnley could take some, like bradley orr and Best. Xxx

I've heard a rumour that we're putting a cheeky offer for Rhodes.

I genuinely think he could do a job for us coming off the bench as cover for the best striking partnership outside the Prem.

From Rhodes point of view, he'd see himself elevated up the league to a well run high flying club with ambition.

Only down side would be reading the curtain twitching jealous, envy filled curmudgeonly, comments from our BolEwood neighbours!

Come and join us Rhodes and enjoy the view up here

Copy and paste job from one of the other articles - you're getting lazy.

Anyway, in the interests of proper football discussion, Rovers need to keep Rhodes, Dann and Hanley but could afford to let a lot of the squad players go (if we can convince them to part with their ludicrous wages that is)! Burnley need to hang onto practically everyone and hope none of their starting 11 get injured over the next 5 months. A tall order.

These pathetic Rovers fans have been saying all season that the Burnley’s squad is small and since October that they will be found out and wishing injuries on them. Well look at the table idiots. Who is second? You had one admitted good win at Leeds, where Burnley won 2-0 by the way and you think that you are going to be Chapions. More like in Adminstration. How many players on your squad now and who’s is going to be interested in any of them this window except the exceptional Jordan Rhodes. See how you go on against Doncaster next week that’ll be a good measure.

Rovers need to sign a pacey winger and a creative mid. Between dunny, Rochina and king we are too thin. With strength in those positions we could threaten the top of the league.

Burnley need depth in attack if they are to maintain automatic promotion.

Please tell me what people see in Goodwillie? We have enough quality in the present squad if only we could cut out the silly mistakes. Cairney is a top player..and with Corry Evans back soon we are capable of mounting a serious challenge. Just need to get rid of legacy issues such as Best and Etuhu...easier said than done though i would imagine.
