ACCRINGTON Stanley boss James Beattie described his side’s comeback at Mansfield Town as ‘amazing’.
Stanley trailed 2-1 in the 93rd minute at Field Mill but goals from Kal Naismith and James Gray gave Beattie’s team a dramatic victory.
There were scenes of real joy as substitutes and staff raced on to the pitch to celebrate with the players.
“I’ll probably expect a few letters on my desk for over-exuberant celebrations but I don’t mind that, I can deal with that,” Beattie said.
“The feeling when that third goal went in was sheer exhilaration.
“It was an amazing experience.
“A couple of the lads said it was the best thing they’ve ever experienced in their life.
“I don’t think there’s anything quite like being 2-1 down after 90 minutes and winning the game 3-2.
“Only football can produce it, and that’s why we love the game so much.
“We haven’t really played that well but I always believed in this set of players.
“That’s the spirit we’ve built up.
“To pull out a performance like that and get two goals in injury time says a lot about the spirit here.”
