Bruce: No deal reached with Blackburn Rovers for Cairney

Lancashire Telegraph: Tom Cairney Tom Cairney

HULL City boss Steve Bruce says a deal is yet to agreed with Blackburn Rovers for Tom Cairney.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Rovers until January 2 but Gary Bowyer has made it clear is keen to retain Cairney.

The player has also said he would be happy to stay at Ewood Park as he seeks regular football, and Cairney has only six months left on his contract at the KC Stadium.

But Rovers have so far been unable to secure a permanent deal, with Hull now saying that a bid has been turned down.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, however, Bruce did not close the door on a deal being reached at his pre-match press conference, saying: “I’m sure negotiations will be ongoing.”

If the first bid has been rejected at least it shows we are trying to sign him, cant see it being a large transfer fee if his contract runs out in the summer, probably better extending the loan. By then we will know if we are going to need him next season or not.

We're second in the league old man, with the most settled side in the league and the best strikers in the league. We don't need to buy. A loanee as cover would be nice, perhaps Cairney might like a move to Burnley in January?

It will be a bit lonely at times on there, as there does tend to be more Dingles commenting on Rovers stories than their own, but for the first time in 35 years you do have a small (however insignificant, as the season ends in May) victory that you can try to celebrate with like-minded no-marks (pardon the pun).

35 years in our shadow and the bitterness is clearly eating you up, but you should celebrate what little you have whilst you can. I appreciate this must be a difficult concept for you and maybe it's the fact that you know that even if you manage to somehow dominate us for the next 35 years, you will NEVER attain the heights that we attained.

I agree no town clubs have a chance of winning the Premiership nowadays. Dalglish did well as he did not pay much for Le Saux,Berg,Sherwood,N
ewell etc only Shearer and eventually Sutton cost us a lot those days 9 million two transfer records broken at the time.
I just wish the Venkey's had given Sam 50 million I am sure with Jon William's help he would have brought in some good players and we would be up there with Everton now.

So nobody then.

Remember Waankys, anything other than outright promotion is TOTAL failure considering your start to the season. We're all watching and expecting the wheels to fall off as they always do. Hopefully, despite our club being a shambles at the moment, we will contribute to you ballsing it up by giving you a hiding at Ewood.
